What a fabulous day we had! Today was the first day we switched for both language arts and math. I was delighted to hear how many of my students love reading. Many love to write; only a few said that it is pure torture.
In Social Studies we began our Explorers Unit. We had some fabulous discussions. The discussions are one of the best parts of 5th grade!
The math students did a great job working together on problem solving and then sharing their answers with the whole class. I really appreciate the stars and wishes the students shared with the presenters.
I am finding that the days just fly by. The students are truly fabulous!
Today's homework:
Language Arts: Read for 20 minutes (daily)
Personal Museum (due Friday - see handout)
Math: Computation worksheet. Remember to do both sides.
Social Studies:
1. Write a response to the essential question, "Why study history?" Directions are on Mrs. Sutton's Social Studies Discussion Page. Due Friday, August 24.
2. Write a response to a classmates blog, "Why study history?" Directions are on Mrs. Sutton's Social Studies Discussion Page. Due Tuesday, August 28.
3. Typed paragraph on, "Why study history?" Due Thursday, August 30.
Students will be getting a rubric/checklist for their typed paper.
