Welcome Back!
It was so nice to see everyone today! It sounds like break was a great time for travel, family and friends.
We are back into the swing right away.

In Language Arts, we began a unit on debate. Students will be placed in groups and research a topic together. They will be assigned either the affirmative or the negative side. Next week, they will debate their topic. Finally, they will write a argumentative 5 paragraph essay on the same topic.
We are wrapping up our unit on Algebra this week, with a vocabulary test (topic 1, 2,3) on Thursday and a Chapter 3 test on Friday. We will do some geometry in December.
Have a great night!

November Read Aloud
To My Student,
This is your opportunity to make suggestions for the next class read aloud. I would like it to be a different genre than what we just read, so let's avoid realistic fiction if we can.
Respond with ideas for the next read aloud. I will look over your ideas and pick some for a class vote.
I am excited to hear your ideas!
Mrs. Sutton

Hi!
Something new..a new color and a new font! What do you think?
Today was a great day! In language arts, we have been trying a new format for Daily 5 and both the students and I really like it. There are 4 mini lessons with 15-20 minutes of independent work in between. The students seem much more confident with their work and I am able to give better instruction with practice during rotations.
This afternoon the students were able to attend an assembly. Be sure to ask about it! They seemed to really enjoy it!
The first trimester ended today. Students took the Chapter 5 social studies test as well as several trimester assessments this week. I will be working on report cards this weekend. They get sent home on Friday of next week.
If you have not yet signed up for a conference with Mrs. Yaniz and I, please do so before the on-line registration ends. Thanks! We both look forward to having time with you.
A reminder to students - -bring in a recipe next week!
Not much to do on this three day weekend...
Language Arts - read for 20 minutes
Math - - Preview 3.3 and Money for Chores due Tuesday.
Enjoy the warm weather tomorrow!
